Hi, nice to meet you

I'm a lifter just like you.

Long before Gym Star Apparel existed, I was simply a guy spending countless hours in the gym, chasing progress, learning from mistakes, and developing a passion for the bodybuilding lifestyle. Like many lifters, I was searching for apparel that reflected the effort, discipline, and pride that came with the lifestyle. What I found was a market filled with generic options and very few brands that truly spoke to serious training.

Instead of settling, I decided to build something better.

What started in 2007 as a small side business selling apparel to local friends and fellow lifters has grown into one of Canada's most recognized destinations for premium bodybuilding apparel. Along the way, I've had the privilege of introducing thousands of Canadian lifters to brands like GASP and Better Bodies, building a nationwide community centered around hard work, authenticity, and the pursuit of becoming better.

Today, Gym Star Apparel and our flagship retail experience inside Brickhouse Gym in Regina, Saskatchewan serve lifters from coast to coast. While our business has grown tremendously over the years, the mission remains exactly the same as it was on day one:

To provide serious lifters with apparel that represents the lifestyle they live and customer service that exceeds expectations.

Whether you've been part of the Gym Star family for years or you've just discovered us today, I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to learn our story.

Thank you for being here.

Thank you for living the lifestyle.

Justin Mondor / Founder

Gym Star Apparel was never created because I wanted to start a clothing company. It was created because I was a lifter who couldn't find the type of apparel I wanted to wear.

Back in 2007, the fitness apparel landscape in Canada looked very different than it does today. Social media didn't exist in the way we know it now, online shopping was still gaining traction, and serious bodybuilders had very few options when it came to finding clothing that truly represented the lifestyle. Most athletic apparel was designed for the mainstream fitness crowd, and while there were certainly recognizable brands available, very little existed for those of us who lived and breathed the bodybuilding culture.

At the time, I was spending most of my free time in the gym. Training wasn't something I did for a few hours each week. It was part of who I was. Like many dedicated lifters, I wanted apparel that reflected the effort, discipline, and identity that came with the lifestyle. I wanted clothing that fit properly on athletic physiques, held up to years of training, and looked different from the generic options everyone else was wearing. The more I searched, the more I realized there was a significant gap in the Canadian market.

Rather than waiting for someone else to solve the problem, I decided to do it myself.

On August 15, 2007, Gym Star Apparel officially became a business. What began as a small side venture quickly gained momentum within the local bodybuilding community. I started by sourcing unique fitness apparel brands that were virtually unknown in Canada and selling them to local friends, fellow lifters, and competitors at bodybuilding events throughout Saskatchewan. The response was immediate because people were looking for the same thing I had been searching for: quality apparel built specifically for serious training.

As the business grew, I continued looking for brands that shared the same values I believed were important to lifters. I wasn't interested in trends or fashion for the sake of fashion. I was searching for quality, durability, authenticity, and products created by people who genuinely understood the gym lifestyle. That search eventually led me to a Swedish brand called GASP.

Today, discovering a new fitness apparel brand takes seconds. A quick scroll through Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or Facebook can introduce you to thousands of companies. In 2007 and 2008, things were very different. There were no influencers promoting GASP, no sponsored athletes flooding social media feeds, and no viral marketing campaigns introducing the brand to North America. Finding brands like GASP required digging through bodybuilding forums, niche websites, and underground fitness communities where serious lifters shared information with one another.

The moment I discovered GASP, I knew it was different. The apparel was built specifically for lifters. The fabrics were heavier, the fits were designed around muscular physiques, and the brand represented the gritty, hardworking side of bodybuilding that often gets overlooked by commercial fitness companies. Shortly afterward, I discovered Better Bodies, another Swedish brand that shared many of the same values while offering apparel for a broader audience of dedicated fitness enthusiasts and athletes. Together, these brands embodied everything I believed Canadian lifters deserved access to.

That discovery would ultimately shape the future of Gym Star Apparel.

By 2008, we had established relationships with GASP and Better Bodies and launched our first online store, allowing us to serve customers across Canada. What started as a local operation in Regina, Saskatchewan quickly evolved into a growing national business serving serious lifters from coast to coast. As more Canadians discovered GASP Canada and Better Bodies Canada through Gym Star Apparel, our reputation continued to grow as a trusted source for authentic bodybuilding apparel, premium gym clothing, and products that couldn't easily be found elsewhere in the country.

The growth of our online business eventually led to another important milestone. In 2012, we opened the first Gym Star Pro Shop in Regina, Saskatchewan. For years, customers had been making special trips to see products in person, try on apparel, and experience the brands firsthand. The Pro Shop allowed us to create a destination shopping experience unlike anything else available to Canadian lifters at the time. It wasn't designed to be a traditional retail store. It was designed to be a place where people who lived the fitness lifestyle could connect with brands, products, and people who genuinely understood their passion for training.

Over the years, Gym Star Apparel became known for much more than simply selling clothing. We built relationships. We built trust. Most importantly, we built a community around people who shared a common mindset. The people who shop with us understand that discipline matters, that progress is earned through consistency, and that the gym represents something much deeper than physical appearance alone. Those values continue to guide every decision we make today.

As our vision expanded, so did our opportunities. Today, Gym Star Apparel operates inside Brickhouse Gym, our flagship fitness facility located at 1301 Osler Street in Regina, Saskatchewan. Bringing the Gym Star Pro Shop into Brickhouse Gym created the perfect environment for the brands we represent. Instead of simply shopping for apparel, visitors can experience the culture that inspired the business from the very beginning. Surrounded by serious training, world-class equipment, and a community built around self-improvement, the Pro Shop now exists exactly where it belongs, inside an environment that reflects the same standards and values our apparel represents.

While the fitness industry continues to evolve, our mission remains remarkably simple. We believe quality matters. We believe customer service matters. We believe authentic brands matter. Most importantly, we believe that lifters deserve apparel that reflects the commitment they bring to their training every day. That philosophy has allowed Gym Star Apparel to become one of Canada's most recognized destinations for GASP and Better Bodies apparel and has earned the trust of thousands of Canadian lifters over the past two decades.

Today, whether you're shopping from Vancouver, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto, Halifax, or anywhere in between, our mission remains exactly the same as it was when we started: to provide serious Canadian lifters with premium fitness apparel, exceptional customer service, and access to brands that genuinely represent the bodybuilding and strength-training lifestyle.

Nearly twenty years after launching Gym Star Apparel, we still believe what we believed on day one. This isn't just clothing. It's a reflection of the lifestyle, discipline, and pride that come from pursuing something meaningful. For the people who train with purpose, push their limits, and refuse to settle for average, we're proud to be part of that journey.

As the business continued to grow, so did our vision.

We never wanted Gym Star Apparel to exist separately from the environment that inspired it.

We wanted our retail experience to be fully immersed in the culture of strength training.

That opportunity arrived through the creation and growth of Brickhouse Gym.

Today, the Gym Star Pro Shop operates inside Brickhouse Gym, our flagship fitness facility located at 1301 Osler Street in Regina, Saskatchewan. The move brought our two passions together under one roof: premium fitness apparel and a premium training environment.

Brickhouse Gym is a 12,000 square foot facility built specifically for serious training, featuring industry-leading equipment from Arsenal Strength, Prime Fitness USA, Precor GluteBuilder, Matrix Fitness, and other elite manufacturers. Housing the Pro Shop inside the gym allows friends to experience apparel, training culture, and community all in one place. The result is an environment where lifters can train, connect, and find gear that reflects the lifestyle they live every day.

For us, this wasn't just a change of address.

It was the completion of a vision that began back in 2007.

A vision where the apparel, the training environment, and the community all work together to support people who live with discipline, purpose, and pride.

From an Online Store to a Destination Shopping Experience

As demand continued to grow across Canada, it became clear that Gym Star Apparel was becoming much more than an online retailer.

Customers weren't simply looking for clothing.

They wanted an experience.

By 2012, Gym Star had built a loyal following of lifters who were making special trips to Regina specifically to see products in person, try on apparel, and connect with a business that genuinely understood bodybuilding culture.

On May 22, 2012, Gym Star took its next major step forward with the opening of the first Gym Star Pro Shop in Regina, Saskatchewan. What began as a small online business had evolved into a dedicated retail destination for serious lifters.

The Pro Shop was unlike traditional sporting goods stores.

Rather than trying to appeal to everyone, it was built specifically for the bodybuilding, strength training, and fitness community. Every product was selected with intention. Every display was designed around the lifestyle. Every conversation was driven by real-world experience in the gym.

Over the years, the Pro Shop developed a reputation as a destination location for fitness enthusiasts throughout Saskatchewan and beyond. Lifters would travel from communities across the province, and often from neighboring provinces, specifically to visit Gym Star. Many customers made a point of stopping whenever they passed through Regina because they knew they would find products, brands, and expertise that simply weren't available elsewhere.

The Brands We Believe In

At Gym Star Apparel, we don't try to carry every fitness brand on the market.

Instead, we've spent nearly two decades focusing on brands that genuinely represent the lifestyle, quality, and standards serious lifters demand. That's why we've built our reputation around two of the most respected names in the fitness industry: GASP and Better Bodies.

GASP

Founded in Sweden in 1998, GASP was created specifically for the hardcore bodybuilding community. Known for oversized fits, heavyweight fabrics, and rugged designs, GASP has become a global symbol of serious training and relentless work ethic. The brand is worn by professional bodybuilders, strength athletes, and dedicated gym-goers who value performance, durability, and authenticity over trends.

GASP isn't built for the masses.

It's built for the individuals who understand that results are earned through years of consistency, discipline, and hard work.

Better Bodies

Founded in Sweden in 1982, Better Bodies was created with a mission to inspire and support people pursuing a fitness-focused lifestyle. Combining performance, comfort, and style, Better Bodies offers premium apparel designed for both men and women who take their training seriously.

From gym sessions to everyday life, Better Bodies delivers athletic apparel that looks great, performs exceptionally well, and stands up to the demands of an active lifestyle.

Why We Chose Them

When we first discovered GASP and Better Bodies, we immediately recognized something different.

These weren't brands chasing fashion trends.

They were brands built by people who understood training.

The quality was exceptional. The fit was designed for athletic physiques. The messaging aligned with the values we believed in. Most importantly, both brands represented the discipline, grit, and commitment that define the fitness lifestyle.

Today, we're proud to continue introducing Canadian lifters to the brands that helped shape Gym Star Apparel from the very beginning. Whether you're stepping into the gym for the first time or you've spent decades under the bar, GASP and Better Bodies remain two of the finest fitness apparel brands in the world.
